Q: What does your role involve?

A: My role as Marketing Coordinator involves managing a team of people which includes two agencies; RM Advertising (for creative design) and ADPR (for public relations). I am responsible for ensuring that all of McMurdo Ltd’s brands are promoted and publicised to full effect.

Q: How does your role integrate within the wider team?

A: I work closely with our Product Managers and the Sales Management team to ensure that they have everything they need to sell our products, and allow our customers to promote our products in the best possible way.

Q: What’s keeping you busy at the moment?

A: At the moment planning for future events is keeping me busy; everything from exhibitions, press events and product launches to new marketing materials and promotional items. I am also attending university where I am studying for the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) Professional Diploma in Marketing.

Q: What previous personal knowledge/ expertise does your role draw on?

A: I joined McMurdo Ltd straight from University, having previously held part-time/summer jobs at Raymarine and John Lewis. A lot of what I’ve learnt has been learnt during my time here but university and the jobs mentioned above gave me my first real taste of working to deadlines, multitasking and working with customers.

Q: How long have you worked for McMurdo?

A: I joined in September 2002 where I initially worked on the shop floor building product. By the end of 2004 I was employed as Marketing Assistant and since that time I have taken on responsibility for the department as a whole and been promoted to Marketing Coordinator.
