McMurdo will be exhibiting the Smartfind S10 Automatic Identification System (AIS) Beacon at Seawork 2012. This innovative personal safety device, which incorporates both AIS and GPS technology, will be on display on the McMurdo Ltd stand A5, together with the full range of McMurdo marine safety products.

The Smartfind S10 is designed to be carried by divers, boat crews, or anyone who spends time on the water for work or leisure purposes. Once activated, the device transmits target survivor information including structured alert messages, GPS position information and a unique serialised identity number to the vessel the individual has come from and to other AIS equipped vessels within a typical four mile radius. Bearing and distance information is accurately transmitted and displayed on the AIS receiver or plotter screen, giving potential rescuers all the information they require to carry out swift retrieval of an individual.

Also on display at Seawork will be McMurdo’s full range of marine safety products including EPIRBs, SARTs, PLBs, NAVTEX and VHF Radios.

In addition, McMurdo will be explaining the ground-breaking use of AIS to develop personal safety equipment, as part of the ‘Safety Sessions’ conference programme. This not-to-be missed live presentation will take place at 16:30 on Tuesday 22nd May and will look at how AIS solutions offer a greater chance of survivor location and recovery as well as a demonstration of the Smartfind S10.

For visitors who are unable to make the special one-off session but still have a question they would like answered, McMurdo’s team of experts will be on hand throughout the show on stand A5 to offer advice and information on choosing the right emergency location beacon.
